Book Review - David Bechkam


David Beckham was born in London in 1975 into a football-lovingfamily. The young David was not very good at schoolwork andspent all his spare time playing football. He was encouraged by hisfather, who was a Manchester United fan, and joined ManchesterUnited when he was 16. He played his first game for them a yearlater, and went on to help them win many trophies, including theEuropean Champions Cup. He played his first game for Englandwhen he was 21. He was sent off against Argentina in a World Cupmatch, which England lost. This made Beckham very unpopularwith England fans, but he showed great strength of character andthey soon forgave him. When he was 25, he became the captain ofEngland and scored the only goal when they beat Argentina in the2002 World Cup match. One year later Manchester United sold himto Real Madrid, the best team in the world, for 25 million pounds!He is married to Victoria (‘Posh Spice’ of the famous pop group theSpice Girls) and they have become one of the most famousand glamorous couples in the world. David’s name is always innewspapers and magazines, but never for bad behaviour. He is justan ordinary family man at heart, and a wonderful model for youngpeople all over the world.
